Families at Sussex seaside park gain four week windfall

"People are clearly making a long-term commitment to holidays in Britain, and owning a holiday caravan or lodge gives you the freedom to enjoy breaks year-round." - director Tony Clish.

Owners of holiday homes at a major East Sussex holiday park can now spend even longer beside the seaside each year, thanks to owners Park Holidays UK.

The group has told families at Pevensey Bay Holiday Park near Eastbourne that in the future they can visit their holiday caravans and lodges for 11.5 months out of twelve.

It follows a successful application to the local council by Park Holidays UK for a month-long extension to provide owners with an even longer holiday year.

From now on, they can enjoy breaks at Pevensey Bay throughout the four seasons, and need only lock their doors for the last fortnight in February.

With its private beach access and launching jetty for boats and jet-skis, the park is a long-time favourite of those who see the sea as an important part of holiday fun.

Park Holidays UK director Tony Clish says the green light for longer holidays at Pevensey Bay has come at exactly the right time:

"Since re-opening in July, holiday home sales have rocketed," said Mr Clish who was earlier this month interviewed on BBC Radio Four's You and Yours about the phenomenon.

"People are clearly making a long-term commitment to holidays in Britain, and owning a holiday caravan or lodge gives you the freedom to enjoy breaks year-round.

"A lot of our customers are first-time buyers who have previously rented a holiday home, and say that a staycation is so much more relaxed than a foreign holiday.

"We have predicted this trend for some time, and invested millions in our parks to provide leisure facilities, such as pools and entertainment, to ensure a first-class experience every visit.

"This latest extension brings Pevensey Bay into line with the longer opening seasons we have gained for most of our other thirty-plus coastal parks in Southern England," he added.

Mr Clish points out that adding extra weeks to the holiday year also benefits many local businesses by evening out the annual tourism spending on which they rely.

Located close to Eastbourne, Pevensey Bay Holiday Park's attractions include an indoor swimming pool, gym, entertainments venue, and plenty of children's activities.
