Alternatively the South Downs National Park brings spectacular views, friendly cliffside pubs, and hiking and cycling opportunities. Or for an aquatic adventure try the Blue Reef Aquarium full of fishy wonders - watch out, it might put you in the mood for some of the best-rated fish and chips on the Hastings seafront afterwards. Other attractions scattered around Sussex include Smugglers Adventure, Bodiam Castle, Battle Abbey, Knockhatch Adventure Park, Drusillas Park, West Wittering Beach, and Chichester Town with its historic Cathedral.
On the cusp of Sussex and Kent there’s also Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, named as the world’s smallest public railway. You can use the train to stop off at any one of their 7 stations to explore. All aboard (but not for long)!
Renowned local events also add to Sussex’s very special appeal. The Brighton & Hove Pride Festival attract thousands of visitors every year. There’s also the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Hastings Beer & Wine festival, and Airborne at Eastbourne, to name but a few.
