A 48 Hour Trip – Things to do in Hastings and Rye, Sussex

If you’re planning on visiting one of our holiday parks located in and around Hastings and Rye, then you’ll be pleased to know there is plenty to discover, should you fancy a day out exploring the local areas.

The Pelican Diner

To set yourself up for a busy day of fun and adventure ahead, you’re going to need a full stomach to get going. The Pelican Diner along Hastings seafront serves traditional American favourites and provides the perfect spot to watch the waves roll in.

Our favourite is the pancakes, with plenty of delicious toppings to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

The True Crime Museum

If you fancy something a little out of the ordinary, then The True Crime Museum certainly offers just that! Set in 3,000sq/ft of seafront caves, this chilling location houses the largest collection of crime memorabilia in the UK.

Hastings Pier

Originally opened in 1872, Hastings Pier underwent extensive reconstruction after being burnt down in 2010 and is now a modern, 21st century attraction. The pier often hosts live music, various events, workshops, and has a café serving delicious food and refreshing drinks.

Just under a mile down the road, you’ll find the home of the World Crazy Golf Championships. But, you don’t have to be a world champion to play a round of crazy golf here. With three 18-hole courses to choose from, Hastings Adventure Golf caters for all ages so you can have that ultimate epic family tournament!

Located opposite Hastings Adventure Golf, delight your taste buds with a post-round ice cream. This family-run ice cream parlour brings the very best, authentic Italian gelato in a huge variety of flavours including salted caramel and hazelnut.

And if ice cream isn’t your thing, why not try one of their delicious coffees or hot chocolates instead?

Preparing fresh fish dishes from the Hastings and Rye fishing fleets, there are few restaurants that have shorter ingredient journeys! In fact, from just outside the restaurant, you can see the small boats across the beach where the seafood is caught daily. The perfect dining experience by the sea.

Nestled between the East and West Hills, the Old Town is a quaint, slightly bohemian area of the Sussex town which has plenty to be explored both day and night time. With many quirky, independent pubs and bars to choose from, it’s the ideal place to stop off for a drink after your dinner to end a day of adventure.

Rye Nature Reserve

If you’re planning on visiting our Rye Harbour Holiday Park, then you’ll be pleased to know you’re just a stone’s throw away from Rye’s beautiful nature reserve.

Home to thousands of species of plants and animals, take a scenic walk around the reserve and try and spot one of the many rare breeds of birds and mammals.

And if you’re into photography, there are plenty of picture-perfect opportunities, whatever the weather.

School of Wizards & Witches – Rye

Dust off your broomsticks and enjoy a magical theatre experience! This unique day out will let your children channel their inner witch or wizard self, where they will be taught how to make spells and solve magical mysteries.

The fantastic role-play experience has been created by professional film and prop makers, and is sure to give the whole family a wizard afternoon to remember!

The Kino Cinema in Rye offers a unique cinema experience. It’s set in an old church building with two screening rooms, a terrace, mezzanine and a fully licensed bar, so you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer throughout the film.

Sussex Holidays

A county steeped in history, with an amazing coastline to explore. Hastings is a fascinating location, while Rye is another "must-visit" just along the coast. We have four parks in East Sussex and one at Chichester.
