For the 8th time, Rye will be holding their popular International Jazz & Blues festival this 2019.

Richard Thompson (OBE), the ‘Queen of British Soul’ Beverley Knight and the legendary Sergio Mendes will be performing intimate sets at St Mary’s Church, and if that’s not enough to entice you, there are plenty more acts to be announced in the lead-up to May.

Although the musicians are the headliners, there are many activities, educational workshops and galleries available for attendants of any age.

Jack in the Green, Hastings

If you’re looking for a unique May Day experience, look no further than “Jack in the Green” in Hastings. Dress up in green and enjoy the madness and merriment of the traditional Morris dancers in remarkable costumes.

The processions begin around 9.45am on Bank Holiday Monday, and finishes on the beautiful West Hill. Explore Hastings in the May Day parade; you won’t experience anything like it anywhere else!

Hastings is fast becoming famous for their cultural impact during events such as May day, Pirate day and their magnificent Bonfire night festivities.

Brighton is the city that just keeps giving to us music, art and culture lovers!

With over 300 free events, we could go on for hours about the Brighton Fringe.

This open arts festival provides entertainment in a unique, creative way. With hundreds of acts on the bill, you’ll be spoilt for choice when deciding what to do!

If you’re looking for family friendly days out, bring everyone and anyone to the Fringe City Family Picnic held for free at the Royal Pavilion Gardens.

Also, look out for Comedy Club 4 Kids at Komedia and Baby Loves Disco’s Beach Beats at Tempest Inn, with face-painting, games, drinks and snacks.

9th – 11th May 2019

Spanning across 30+ venues, the “Great Escape Festival” has become one of the staples in this lively city’s yearly event roster. The Beach, the stage debutant of 2018, is a 2,000 capacity venue and will this year be vacated by the likes of The Howl & The Hum. With a wide variety of new music to discover, it’s one of the country’s hottest, freshest festivals to attend.

Lewis Capaldi may be a new name to you, so witness his spotlight performance at the Brighton Dome before he becomes one of the most famous names in music.

Who could forget Idles’ performance from 2018? This year is going to be one to remember!
