Corona Virus Update - 12th March 2020

We have today been advised by Public Health England that a person who attended an event at the Birchington Vale Clubhouse on the evening of Saturday 7th March has tested positive for coronavirus COVID-19.

We are therefore contacting everyone who may have been in the vicinity of this person to advise them of the situation and provide advice as recommended by Public Health England.

We have been given assurances by Public Health England that the individual has taken the necessary precautions and that the likelihood of anyone else attending the event on the 7th of March contracting the virus is extremely low. They have advised that prolonged close vicinity contact of at least 15 minutes would be required before any serious risk of infection and early evidence shows that the virus can only survive on surfaces for 30 minutes.

Public Health England have confirmed they are satisfied that the normal hygiene steps we have taken since the event have been sufficient however we will be carrying out an additional deep clean of the facilities this evening.

We have not been given the personal details of the person who has tested positive and will not be given that information by Public Health England
