Visit trade shows to view caravans for sale

People who are planning to look at caravans for sale with a view to investing in one have been advised to spend time at trade shows in order to gauge the market.

Mike Buttigieg, executive producer of The Caravan Channel, has spoken of the excitement of buying a caravan, especially for the first time, but offered several recommendations on how to ensure a purchase is a shrewd one.

He suggested that visiting an industry event is a "must" for anybody thinking of taking the plunge and acquiring their own mobile holiday accommodation.

There are several reasons for this – and it is not only the obvious benefit of being able to assess what is on the market and how much it retails for.

The expert added that trade shows are also an opportunity to gain access to insiders who will know everything about all the latest models and accessories.

"You can ask all the questions you want without needing to hold for an operator," stated Mr Buttigieg.

When it comes to selecting an exhibition to attend, he offered two examples of "excellent" events – the Caravan and Motorhome Show in Manchester in January and the Boat and Caravan Show at the NEC in Birmingham a month later.

"The National Caravan Council have recently begun organising shows too and their October show at the Birmingham NEC was a huge success. Their next show will be in February at London's ExCeL centre and a visit promises to be equally worthwhile," Mr Buttigieg noted.

He reiterated that contact with fellow caravanners and industry professionals is a major plus of any such event, as experiences are shared and tips picked up.

Rhonda Carrier, head of content at UK holiday ideas and inspiration provider Takethefamily.com, is one observer to have recently praised UK holidays, as she said the coast is of particular value to tourists in the country.
