Add wildlife and nature to Sussex holidays
There is plenty going on in the south of England this summer, whether on the coast or in inland destinations.
Visit Brighton has recently revealed the city is hosting a number of events, such as Paddle Round the Pier, while in London the iconic St Paul's Cathedral is celebrating its 300th anniversary.
Cities may offer a great deal of events and attractions to tourists – such as those staying in caravans in the south – but it is often nice to get out and about in the countryside too.
Ian Swinney, a National Trust ranger, has told the Daily Telegraph that one of the natural highlights of the UK is the Purple Emperor Butterfly – and best of all, it can be located in Surrey.
The newspaper recommended heading to Bookham Commons, where Mr Swinney suggested the "Spitfire of the butterfly world" can be found.
He added that they are most commonly seen early in the morning warming up or at around noon when they tend to base themselves in the tree canopy at Mark Oak and Hill Farm.
