Southampton marks the Titanic’s 100th anniversary

Setting sail from Southampton in April 1912, the fated Titanic became legendary after its maiden voyage ended in disaster. Now, 100 years later, two theatre companies are marking this milestone anniversary of the world’s most famous cruise liner with a unique dramatic walk through the city.

With help from the Point Youth Theatre, the Sarah Siddons Fan Club (who are renowned for their theatrical reconstructions of historical local events) will be leading guests on a tour of Southampton with a difference on three days between the 11th and 15th April. This innovative performance will attempt to recreate the heady atmosphere that surrounded the city in the days before the ship’s departure - and reactions to the tragedy that followed - from the perspective of townspeople of the era, along with the liner’s crew and families of those who were on board.

Whether you are booking in advance or looking for last minute caravan holidays, the many varied cultural and family-friendly events in Southampton will be sure to provide you with a break to remember.
