Exeter museum welcomes record numbers in first month reopened

A museum in Exeter that recently underwent a multi-million pound makeover experienced phenomenal success during its first month reopened to the public.

The Royal Albert Memorial Museum, which ended a four year closure in December last year, attracted a record 50,000 visitors, and comfortably outstripped all previous records held by the attraction, according to a spokesman for the museum.

Its previous record stood in November 2007, when 14,603 people flocked to the building in the last month before it was shut for regeneration.

Despite problems during the project, including a 60% increase on the original budget leading to delays in completion of the building, early figures suggest the frustration and wait was worth it and visitors are said to have been delighted with the dramatic improvement of the building.

Come and visit this brand new attraction to the beautiful city and combine it with a stay at one of the many holiday parks in South Devon, a great way to spend your British holiday.
