Exciting art exhibition comes to Ipswich
Anyone who is interested in art and visiting the Ipswich area in the next month will be pleased to learn they can take advantage of a great exhibition currently running at the Ipswich Art School. Open until 4 March, ‘Behind the Mask’ features a very special selection of works produced by acclaimed Nigerian, Suffolk-based artist Chinwe Chukwuogo-Roy MBE.
Rather than being a standard retrospective of her art, this brand new display was set up as a response to one shown at the Ipswich Museum that presented pieces by Charles Partridge, a Colonial Officer in Nigeria during the first half of the twentieth century. Including 3D installations, as well as more traditional drawings and paintings, ‘Behind the Mask’ explores the issues of colonialism and the cultural crises that face the African people.
Why not combine your holiday at one of the area’s great caravan parks with a visit to the lovely town of Ipswich and this one-of-a-kind exhibition?
