Dawlish Air Show moves date to celebrate Diamond Jubilee

An air show in Dawlish has been scheduled to mark the end of the town’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, moving the date of its regular spot from August to Friday 8 June in the process.

Organisers released a statement which released details of their decision making process, calling it a “difficult and bold decision” but are satisfied the “move to half term and Diamond Jubilee week to be highly beneficial to Dawlish and the local community”.

The statement continued: “There were many contributing factors which have led us to decide on the June date. The main reason being avoiding July and August due to the Olympic Games taking place in London and Weymouth, which could cause us problems with emergency services coupled with airspace restrictions”.

The event usually attracts thousands of onlookers who flock to the seaside town every year to enjoy a series of heart-stopping, thrill inducing aerial displays, including aerobatics and sky writing. This year’s event looks set to be one of the biggest yet, made even more special with the celebration of the Diamond Jubilee.
