Devon and Cornwall could be the best spots for a caravan holiday

West Country is a hit!

The West Country – including counties such as Dorset, Devon and Cornwall – will always be a hit with domestic tourists booking caravan holidays, as the breathtaking countryside, unspoilt beaches and fun attractions combine to form a memorable experience.

In fact, there may be no other spot in the UK that offer so much in a relatively short distance.

It seems the region – and, in particular, Cornwall – has a huge fan in freelance travel writer Linsey McNeill, who has praised it wholeheartedly.

She described it as an "unbeatable" place to head to for a holiday, with its beaches at the heart of all that is great about it.

When asked what draws people to Cornwall, Ms McNeill said: "It's just the obvious – it's got the best beaches ... It's cool now [too] – it's got the surfing and camping, which has become a very cool thing to do in the last five years. For families on a budget it's just unbeatable, really."

One of the great advantages of holidaying in the West Country is that it offers something for everybody, from those who want a relaxing break to those seeking fun and adventure.

The writer noted that surfing is one of the key attractions of the area and the pursuit is becoming increasingly popular with Britons.

Ms McNeill went on to suggest that surfing is now a family-friendly activity and, in terms of new experiences, the south-west is "better than other parts of the UK".

Surfing is far from the only thing to look forward to on a Devon or Cornwall caravan holiday in 2012, as Dartmoor National Park Authority recently revealed.

The body said it is hosting a series of guided walks in the area to show visitors the settings in which the movie War Horse – which is released in the UK today (January 13th) – was filmed.
